THORSTEN QUAESCHNING - AMA - O.S.T.

TQ's new album is, imo, his best yet. Sweetness, power, 70s throwback / anthemic, Berlin School, gorgeous melodies, superb sound design, each track brilliant in its own right, and in combination even better as a whole journey. Simply can't stop playing it, nor recommend it highly enough. https://tho...

TD - LIVE - COVENTRY CATHEDRAL - 24th OCT. 2020

Just spotted this on TQ's website, and then did a search to see if tickets available already.....seems they are! http://www.thorstenquaeschning.com/ https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/tangerine-dream-coventry-cathedral-tickets-98610517713 Hoping like hell Europe + UK's general downward trajectory of Cov...

THORSTEN QUAESCHNING - BEHIND CLOSED DOORS concerts

Apologies if someone has posted about this somewhere else on the forum, but TQ has been doing these great live improv concerts called BEHIND CLOSED DOORS twice a week for a month now, with a special guest for each show. You can watch live streams on Mondays and Thursdays on YouTube at: https://www.y...

Re: The Sessions I

This modern embrace of TD's improvisational skill and legacy is enormously welcome. It was what made their '70's and '80's concerts so great, imo. TD often toured BEFORE an album came out, so what you heard live was entirely new. The experience of that was simply thrilling, and there are less bands ...

FORCE MAJEURE - THE BOOK

It seems the previous thread - started several years back - was mostly about people happy to hear the book was coming, and their efforts to order / receive it, so I thought I'd start a fresh one about the actual content. Now it's here, for those of us lucky so far to receive it. I'm only a quarter o...

Re: Light Flux

One of the things I always found slightly odd is that in all the years since Thorsten joined the band, he and Edgar were so rarely credited as actual co-writers on any track, be it album or Cup Disc. It was either one, or the other. And hearing LIGHT FLUX, I think.......WHY OH WHY!?!!! GREEN SUMMER ...

QUANTUM GATE - THE ALBUM

Seriously....when was the last time a TD album was this good all the way through? Imo, you'd have to go back nearly 30 years....to FORCE MAJEURE, EXIT, TANGRAM, LOGOS....which coincides precisely with the last times TD ever made it into the top 100 of the UK album charts. The opening textures and th...

ULRICH SCHNAUSS + JONAS MONK - PASSAGE

This the 2nd effort from Ulrich + collaborator Jonas Monk, and I must confess I haven't heard / purchased the first....but based on this I will absolutely do so. Whilst I'm strongly reminded of both the sound design of HELIOS and the guitar-scapes of ROBIN GUTHRIE (ex-COCTEAU TWINS) throughout, this...

Re: Particles EP

Absolutely love the re-work of MOTHERS OF RAIN, and the STRANGER THINGS theme. 4:00pm SESSION is interesting and a welcome return to the improv ethos of the 1970s. Is it me, or is that piece most reminiscent of Michael Hoenig's DEPARTURE FROM THE NORTHERN WASTELAND rather than any TD track!??? Anywa...

Re: Ulrich Schnauss - No Further Ahead Than Today - New Albu

As 'Sorcerer' mentions, this is a rather unique chapter in the ever growing TD-solo-releases story. Ulrich had a long, commercially and critically acclaimed career before joining TD. I've been a fan of his for many years, and was both hugely surprised and massively pleased when Edgar brought him int...

TD - LIVE 2016 - VIDEO + PIX NOW AVAILABLE

Hello! I'm very pleased to make public a video promo of live visuals and some pix from TD's June 2016 concert in Szczecin, Poland. Flat out delighted to be working with the band, alongside my frighteningly talented colleagues - listed below. Video is here: TANGERINE DREAM - LIVE 2016 - SHORT PROMO h...

AN INSANE AMOUNT OF EGO vs. CODENAME: THE SOLDIER

Very obscure I know, but..... A friend recently sent me some old archive of the brilliant 'THE DAILY SHOW with JON STEWART'. And blow me down, sometime in 2006 they did a short piece about a certain Wall Street trader who was so astonishingly self-absorbed that he actually had Ferrari photograph and...

Re: PETER BAUMANN - Solo CD re-issues

Buy both....you won't regret it! They hold up extremely well, despite being over 30 years old. BICENTENNIAL PRESENT from ROMANCE '76 is simply a classic electronic piece. CHASING THE DREAM from TRANS HARMONIC NIGHTS is one of the greatest sequencer tracks ever made. Only Steve Roach's ARRIVAL (from ...
