Re: Pilots of Purple Twilight: The Virgin Recordings 1980 –

Nice collection of photos in the accompanying booklet. Question re "Network 23" from 'Exit': on both of my previous copies of the CD - Virgin's original release in the 1980s and then the so-called "remastered" version from 1995 - at around 1 minute 12 seconds, the stereo sound st...

Re: SHY PEOPLE 2016 version

Well I never got a response from BuySoundtrax, nor even an email to say the CD had been dispatched but, after six weeks, it's finally here! Flimsily packaged, inevitably the case is cracked. So not a good buying experience, all told. However this new release of the sountrack is worth getting hold of...

Re: Quantum key (2015).

Anyway, the "shred of truth" thing I was referring to was the fact that you just lost all credibility when you mentioned that, for the last 20 years or so, TD has been nothing but an uncreative and an uninspiring experience. But what you actually said - indeed your opening, unqualified ga...

Re: Quantum key (2015).

Dave, nothing you say has the least shred of truth. Really? Let's examine that... maybe he wanted to turn things over to Thorsten, who knows? So firstly you say there's not a shred of truth in it but then admit that's it's a possibility. I said that Edgar was TD's founder. But you are saying there ...

Re: Quantum key (2015).

You're seriously thinking that this EP sounds anything like the TD experimentations from the 70's or even the 80's? No, I'm not saying it's a "soundalike". What I *am* saying is that I can hear certain elements that suggest a recapturing of the exhilarating "vitality" of those e...

Re: Quantum key (2015).

Not an unlistenable release, but nothing memorable or astonishing or special by all means. In my view that exactly describes the Tangerine Dream of the last 20 years... It may not be unlikable, but will this stand the test of time Possibly not but something *had* to change. The new material may wel...

Re: QUANTUM KEY ep

Oh, hang on -I've been listening to the wrong tracks - d'oh!! Yes, I like that "Genesis Of Precious Thoughts" piece, too. :-) Edgar might have been involved in this album but the other guys may have been improving upon it since his passing. Indeed what we're hearing now may be significantl...

Re: QUANTUM KEY ep

WOW!!!!!!!! "Electron Bonfire" is sensational - a real return to form... and confirms in my mind that the band is (potentially) capable of not only surviving Edgar's passing but getting TD back on the right track. There is a real understanding here of what made TD so superb in the 70s and ...

Re: Final Movement by Edgar and Jerome Froese

Negativity overload in that post. I thought I was fairly positive about "Final Movement" and TD's future potential. In addition, 20 years of writing, recording, touring and performing written off in one sentence. Well done. Thank you - you're welcome. As you probably gather, I didn't feel...

Re: Final Movement by Edgar and Jerome Froese

The track doesn't really progress or evolve that much - it feels somewhat "unfinished", which is probably understandable given the difficult circumstances around Jerome and Edgar's professional relationship. But with some further work and expansion, it certainly seems to have the potential...

Re: What do you think / wish: is this the end of TD?

While Tangerine Dream was not the first band to embrace electronica, it rapidly became one of the most important and high-profile ones to "fly the flag" for the genre. As early as 1973 it was receiving airplay on BBC national radio and the vocal-less albums entered the UK rock charts. For ...

a TD fan MUST own the dubblevinyl Indeed - my vinyl edition actually provides better sound quality than the Virgin CD. There is more "ambience" and a broader sound spectrum in the treble range. In fact I'm still in the process of "debugging" Tropic Of Capricorn from the CD and t...
