Re: Worst TD tracks

My goodness...has it been that long since I registered for this site??? Anyway, despite things being awfully quiet in here right now, please allow me to respond to some of my earlier critiques on TD's music. To this day, I still consider Tangram a big disappointment. I definitely like Tangram a whol...

Re: Tangerine Dream in 2020

I think they have played Mothers Of Rain almost to death, actually. If you feel that way about "Mothers of Rain", I don't dare ask for your thoughts on other live staples like "Betrayal", "Dolphin Dance", or "LOART"! But seriously, while I'd also love to hear...

At least they've done "Mothers of Rain" recently, which I consider one of the best from that period.

I appreciate the actual synth work a great deal, obviously, but I really miss the guitar solos of old.

Re: The Story behind TD titles!

I've been studying Zen Buddhist philosophy on a personal level these past few months, and I'm really indebted to Edgar for piquing my interest in the subject over time. I was listening to "Cool At Heart" from Melrose an hour ago, and I couldn't help but marvel at how its soothing melody he...

To anyone who attended the Berlin 1987 concert...

Is there a reason why Edgar's guitar comes in really late during "Ride On The Ray"? I've always wondered if he was sidelined by technical issues, although nothing else on the recording besides the uncomfortably long delay would indicate this. I love Edgar's solos on this track, which is wh...

Re: 1985 - 1990: The Chaotic Years

Quite often, Edgar showed himself to be deeply philosophical. He was apparently interested in Zen, so he must have understood that change is inevitable and that nothing lasts forever. Of course, Edgar was also very human, so tensions with certain bandmates undoubtedly made it easier for him to accep...

Re: Worst TD tracks

Over the years, I've grown to tolerate most of the songs I mentioned in this thread. It's becoming increasingly difficult to name another song I dislike, although there are possibly several that simply don't do much for me. I guess one example would be "Desert Train" from Melrose . It's n...

The same pretty much goes for "Longing For Cashba" as well, but sometimes less is more. In both tracks, I love how the sax is used.

Re: TDACS: Springtime vs. Summer in Nagasaki

I bought Summer first and got Springtime over a year later. I got the albums in this order since I'd read that many fans preferred Summer over its predecessor. After listening to both albums for quite some time, I'd say I enjoy Springtime more. I enjoy both the "Naval Of Light" and "P...

Re: Hamlet vs. Backstreet Hero

When I read this thread years ago, I was a bigger fan of "Backstreet Hero". I must have gradually warmed up to Edgar's guitar style as I expanded my TD collection. Nowadays, I generally find Edgar's playing more enjoyable than Jerome's. I used to like Jerome's "hair metal" sound,...

Re: New Gigs in 2016

Three years ago, I commented on Zlatko's Facebook page that he should plan a reunion with Edgar, and he said it'd be "kinda cool." Unfortunately, Zlatko was busy touring at the time, and I guess Edgar already had a competent guitarist in Bernhard. I hope Jerome and Zlatko collaborate somet...

Re: New Gigs in 2016

I don't think Edgar wrote anything together with TQ or Schnauss either though. Looks like all of them wrote by themselves. I haven't gotten Mala Kunia yet, but my understanding is that Edgar and Ulrich collaborated on several tracks. Do correct me if I'm wrong. While you're right about Thorsten wri...

Re: Great Wall Of China...

I'm sure there's a better thread for this, but this question has been bugging me forever. Can someone please identify that overused preset (and which synth it belongs to) that appears quite often in Edgar's tracks on GWOC , Mars Polaris , and Mota Atma ? It's the very first sound you hear in "L...

Re: New Gigs in 2016

Not sure if it was Edgar, but I don't see who else could have said it. I did a quick search, and it turns out it was from an interview from 2014: It was a compromise, because the idea was orginally, maybe to form a band, between my son, Thorsten and myself. It didn't work at all, because Thorsten a...
