Re: New Gigs in 2016

Must be a little tricky for Jerome though, as he used to be friends with both TQ and Schnauss, and I guess he knows Baumann from the Melrose album from 1990. Must be hard to burn bridges like that. Didn't Edgar divulge in one interview that Jerome didn't really get on well with TQ when the latter b...

Re: Mota Atma

This was my latest purchase. I'd previously heard half of the album on Youtube, so I hoped to buy the whole thing at some point. When my copy finally came in the mail, I put the CD in my player and left it there for about a week. I must have listened to it between 8 or 10 times. As others have menti...

Re: Worst TD tracks

Over the years, I've grown to tolerate most of the songs I mentioned in this thread. It's becoming increasingly difficult to name another song I dislike, although there are possibly several that simply don't do much for me. I guess one example would be "Desert Train" from Melrose . It's no...

Re: Grammy Awards

220 Volt Live received three nominations. The remaining category you missed was Best Rock Instrumental Performance, for "Purple Haze".

Re: Worst TD tracks

All this time, I forgot to mention "Storm Seekers" and "Cool Shibuya". I always skip them.

Re: Bernhard Beibl

I just read Bernhard's side of the story on his website and, like him, I'm "very much shocked". I must say I'm disappointed in certain people for not taking the high road and reaching some sort of agreement with this loyal bandmate. With so many past references to Zen Buddhism and other as...

Re: VOICES IN THE NET : RIP

Any knowledge about how Michael is doing? VITN was last updated sometime last year, and I was wondering if something came up again. I've been somewhat out of the loop, so I'm not sure if I missed this in a more recent thread.

Re: Vanishing Blue

I bought this mp3 the other day, and I'm really fond of it. I would argue that it sounds quite mature compared to the stuff on Underwater Sunlight (which I love, by the way). While I agree with Jon that it probably isn't an Edgar composition, it must have been embellished during the 90's. The harpsi...

Re: Favourite Edgar Froese guitar solo

isn't that Jerome? Or a duo between J and E? Edgar played it alone in 1988, while both he and Jerome took turns on it in 1990. While Jerome did a great job, you have to admit that he monopolized most of the track (Edgar only had a paltry two minutes or so at the end). "Cries and Whispers"...

Re: The case for Big City Dwarves live in 2014

I haven't heard the shortened version, so I wouldn't know what was removed. On the subject of compositions, I have a theory that Jerome helped Edgar with programming drumbeats on some tracks during the 90's and onward. It has been my understanding that rhythms cannot be copyrighted, which helps expl...

Re: The case for Big City Dwarves live in 2014

I like "Big City Dwarves," but I highly doubt they would play it. It was written by Jerome, and so far, "Oriental Haze" was the only Jerome track I'm aware of that was performed without its composer, and only on the recent 2012 tour. So unless Jerome makes a surprise guest appear...

Re: Worst TD tracks

One track I always disliked was "Twin Soul Tribe" which is on the OPTICAL RACE album. What's your opinion of "Turning Off The Wheel"? That song does nothing for me. I can tolerate "Twin Soul Tribe," even though the apparent 'desert theme' is hardly original or notewort...

If it's any consolation, you folks in Scotland have a much better chance of seeing TD than I do. I live in Hawaii, USA, and illness prevents me from traveling anywhere. The chances that TD would do a show in my city is next to zero, so I'm out of luck. At least Scotland is closer and has more option...
