Re: Entry Point

I will end up having to buy this as I always end up giving away my copies of the CD to a friends and relatives as an approachable Gateway to exploring Tangerine Dream. This was also the first Tangerine Dream album I was exposed to so it does have a soft spot for me. Rich Compare them first at loud ...

What are your opinions about the sound quality of the 1995 remasters? Are these the best versions available on CD? The first edition of Encore sounds better than the remaster.... The 1995's are OK but I think the original's much more closely match the tone of the LP's and are more dynamic, therefor...

You would not hear much more than a synth-drone and a drum part.

So it was unfinished rather than partially redone? Interesting.

Probably my 2nd favorite TD album just the way it is.

A thought on Poland: I first heard this through a video of concert footage on youtube and I thought it sounded great. On the cd I got, though, the music sounded less lively or 'alive', maybe due to the sound having been compressed? That often happens with cd remastering. Esoteric uses Noise Reducti...

Poland always was a cold album. Esoterics remaster sounds OK to me and in no way sounds lifeless & dull. Personally I find all the Esoteric releases I have (and there are quite a few) very good. Compared to the Relativity the Esoteric is Colder and Duller. I did spend over an hour doing a back ...

Re: Green Desert/Pergamon

Surely you jest. As Green Desert is a 1973/1984 hybrid and preceded Underwater which is from 1987, your comment to me does not make sense. If you are going to get the Live Pergamon from Esoteric when it is issued, I hope for you they do a better job than they did on Poland. Esoteric's Polan...

Re: Green Desert/Pergamon

It has a prog rock/fusion vibe to it that I wouldn't have thought TD capable of after having gone all bland AOR with Underwater Sunlight. Surely you jest. As Green Desert is a 1973/1984 hybrid and preceded Underwater which is from 1987, your comment to me does not make sense. If you are goi...

Is really interesting that except for Risky Biz and Thief {I am surprised it still is} no others are still in print. Not only that but some have been OOP for 2 decades. My Favorite TD soundtrack is Flashpoint - 'natch :) This was once a difficult find for TD fan's, even the mid 90's One Way re-issue...

I picked up a copy for a friend 2 years ago for $10. They seem to be same amount used from Amazon sellers at present time. What have you seen them go for?

Re: Poland Poland everywhere

I recently dug out my CD copy of POLAND to listen to for the first time in I don't even remember how long, and while sorting through my collection I discovered that I actually have four different versions: the 2 disc Relativity release in the double jewel case, the 2 disc Relativity release in the ...

Ok that is fair, but not worth $15 to me. For those who have good money no big deal I guess.

i will definitely buy the esoteric reissue. im not concerned if the music is not 'remastered' from the 'original' mastertape. :P If they are not better than CD's one already owns then why spend the money? There have been many Green Dessert issues that can be purchases for little money and by your o...

There has been some utter nonsense written about the esoteric releases, mainly the provenance of the material...the quality of the 'remastering' etc. but as far as im concerned the Zeit box set is a lovely artifact "utter nonsense" remark is not very friendly. Not friendly at all. I have ...

My copy of Underwater Sunlight is a 2003 Sanctuary (06076-81297-2) release. Don't know about the hardness of sound since I haven't heard any other version. Sounds good imo. I think the 2003 Sanctuary is better than the Esoteric but inferior to the original Jive and Relativity and of course the viny...
