NAVEL OF LIGHT wrote:Think someone mentioned it earlier but Three o'clock High fits quite snuggly in my collection between Ferris Bueller and Wierd Science. Some clever filming if your anorak enough to notice stuff like that and a good easy no brainer storyline. Reasonably priced too on certain online based retailers based in Jersey :-)
Ferris Bueller and Wierd Science and classics. I would say my favorites are Breakfast Club and the best movie of the 80s which is Back To School with the genius Rodney Dangerfield. He has me in stiches in that movie. I got a signed picture of him somewhere.

That is hysterical!

I've the film on DVD and watched maybe the first 15 minutes - I don't think it was a terrible film, there were some nice devices in what I saw - but it is terrible now, really dated. Can you imagine a high school film now with such little ethnic diversity?

Maybe I'll whack it on tonight and ignore the humour!
imho

Very funny....

...but knowing EF's sense of humour I doubt it's true. Good story though.

Very interesting. I guess the reason why Sylvester Levay got involved was that TD scored it too seriously, as Joanou says. Joanou was only 25 when he did the film, by the way!

I think Levay does a great job to catch the TD sound, except for one track where he sound like a poor man's ZZ Top goes instrumental.

I e-mailed Paul Haslinger about the clip and this is his reply:

ha,ha… wasn’t quite like that

but hey, freedom of speech… and he does put in a good performance as a stand up comedian

very interesting clips altho i'm disappointed with the director's very narrow minded and even sometimes racist view of TD's approach to scoring the movie - I know he's just having a laugh but I found myself quite offended for TD......

thanks for the link tho :)
