DSJR wrote:Well, I've tried again with this recording (on LP this time) and i still don't get it. The sequenced track on side 2 is almost an EF solo effort and the whole thing is just bland to me....

I also found my copy of Electronic Meditation, which I didmissed as a "bloody racket" twenty plus years ago. I actually enjoyed it today and, whilst acknowledging the overall crudeness of it, I'd say it's vital to the understanding of where they went in later years.
Each to their own, but I wouldn't have thought blandness was an accusation that could be levelled at this album.

I don't mind being different :) ... But I'm stunned how much I liked EM, having written it off completely years ago... :?

The title for blandness should be Zeit I suppose, as nothing much happens, but it takes you to a different part of yourself and is a wonderful album to meditate.

Maybe I'll get to like GD in ten years or so

I think that's one of the wonderful things about TD and EM in general. Each time I listen to an album I thought I knew really well, I either hear something new, or I find myself appreciating a passage I had previously glossed over.

have you heard the obvious reference to Ravel on EIMP?

Have to admit I haven't. That may be a "glossed over" passage though, as I don't like Ravel.

'bland' is not something one should level at ZEITTIME

or GD....for that matter

bland can only be levelled at a starbucks cinnamon latte with extra milk

Green Desert is wonderful....

Zeit is bland unless I'm in the right mood.

Compared to the previous and follow-up recordings (Atem and Phaedra), GD to me is bland and not very endearing. Just my opinion of course, but then again, I don't care over much for Encore and Stratosfear, which are real all time favourites for some of you.....

There is only one track on Green Desert that I have never cared for which is Astral Voyager because it is too repetative. However, some people like it. Bar that track, I must repeat that the album is amazing, IMHO.

We 'all' love Phaedra, but even there, there are two tracks which don't tickle my fancy, they are Movements of a Visionary and Sequent C'.

There will always be some music that we love :) and some that we don't :( .
