For me it has to be the classic lineup of:

Froese, Franke, Baumann :D

 this is the TD I "grew up" with, and despite the many later excellent lineups this will always stand for me as the best one...

That's a tough one!!!
Paul Haslinger has always been my favourite TD member, I thought he brought a bit of much needed youth to TD, especially after JS left I felt TD needed something special to fill that void and they certainly got it with him! - EF/PH/JF is also special for me as this was the first line-up I saw perform live in 1990 but then EF/CF/JS is when TD (for me) gave their best musical output of work in terms of melody, experimentation and improvisation but in the end I had to go with EF/CF/PH as I got into TD during the Underwater Sunlight / Tyger era and my all time favourite concert is Montreal 1986 so there you have it......... :P

F-F-S for me - Poland, White Eagle, Exit, Tangram, not to mention a soundtrack or five... such a good run of consistent favourites.

Although I voted for the FFH line up. I have to be honest and say all lineups have great merit. The current line up on record seem to be mostly Edgar himself so maybe the best line up is Edgar,,

Hey, where's the option for the Froese/Schulze/Schnitzler line-up, huh?

Or for that matter Froese/Franke/Schroyder?

:P

I'm bucking the trend -- I voted for EF/JF. Not because I think that was the best lineup per se, but because I think Jerome's work in the mid 90's through the early 2000's under the TD label is some of the best EM around. I became a TD fan a decade ago largely because of the quality of their recent output at the time (the major studio albums, not those pap filler TDI releases).

Otherwise, I'd vote the EF/CF/JS lineup. Tangram, Exit, Logos, White Eagle, Poland -- dynamite classics that will forever define the genre of classic sequencer-driven European EM. Tangram Part 1 in particular is probably one of my favorite pieces of music. Ever. :)
