Top of 70s, 80s 90s and 00s

Post by genesis1964 »

I have tried my best to show the greatness of Tangerine Dream to my friends, many however do not have interests in electronic music.

Some have shown interest and I said I was happy to send a selection of music to them from all eras of their history. I would like to send the best.

What is your favourite album by Tangerine Dream for 1970's, 1980's, 1990's and 2000's?

For me, it's Ricochet, Poland, What a Blast! and Jean D'Arc.

For introducing friends to TD - I have found albums like Underwater Sunlight, Strastosfear and most of the soundtracks to be very useful.

Welcome Genesis 1964 BTW!

70s Phaedra/Zeit
80s Tangram
90s :?: at the moment
00s Autumn in Hiroshima

There are many contenders for me in the 70s and 00s it must be said.

For introducing folk to the Dream though, think I would go for Underwater Sunlight or J D'Arc

I'd send a selection of compositions (for example 4 of each decade):
70's: Ultima Thule Pt.1+2, Rubycon Pt.1, Stratosfear, Force Majeure
80's: Logos Pt.1, White Eagle, Song Of The Whale Pt.1+2, Tyger
90's: Three Bikes In The Sky, Catwalk, Flashflood, Astrophobia
00's: La Solitude De L'Espoir, 11:02 AM, Sadness Of Echnaton Losing The World Child, Hunter Shot By A Yellow Rabbit

Considering albums I'd choose:
70's: Encore
80's: White Eagle
90's: Mars Polaris
00's: Views From A Red Train

It's a tough choice though, even for the 90's. There is just too much to choose from.
