in the past, i've gone on and one about how much i like this album. i think Bent cold sidewalk is a masterpiece, and it's too bad the band isn't fond of it. and the last track, just epic in every way!

i'd really like hearing live recordings of these tracks. i see that there are 6 bootlegs from 1978, but i'm guessing none of them would contain anything other than perhaps madrigal meridian

"Cyclone" was the first TD album I ever heard. 8)

To me, it the ultimate example of what could be done with analogue gear (you could argue that KS's "Frank Herbert" might be another great example). It's big, bold, brash, and "Madrigal Meridian" is just the most bloody-minded '**** you' sequence you'll ever hear.

IMHO, it's very heavily influenced by the live music they pummelled the US with on the 77 tour where subtlety was wasted on stadium-sized audiences.

Maybe it's just the vocals be a great track at the next live TD  Edgar

i know it's probably a different story for madcap's, but i like how they had a live singer for those performances a few years ago. I love Chris Hausl's voice so much.

I think there's so much negative vibe about the vocal tracks, that the sheer brilliance of the non-vocal Madrigal Meridian gets overlooked too much.

The instrumental passages in Rising Runner and Bent Cold Sidewalk are pretty excellent too, and since I like a lot or vocal prog I can live very happily with this TD album

In a nutshell Cyclone was one of the first TD albums I bought..always liked it and the lyrics for bent Cold Sidewalk are excellent.

I can't hear that myself, it's slightly at odds with what Steve says about the recording
