I love this album from start to finish. Even though I'm a little iffy on the opening parts of Monolight, I find it a good contrast in between the sequencer monsters before and after. Coldwater Canyon is an amazing and stunning climax while Desert Dream provides a wonderful and colorful canvas with its blend of soundscapes and light sequences. Sparrow, did you know that most of Desert Dream is actually from 1974, and not 1977? Parts of it are taken directly from the otherwise unreleased Oedipus Tyranus soundtrack recorded at Chichester August 18, 1974.

Agreed. I think it gets a bit boring towards the end. The riff that comes in at about 2:55 is great, though. And Edgar's guitar playing of course.

Yeah I knew that. But it always sounded to me like the soundtrack to a 60's sc fi b movie.

Absolute classic of an album.
Remember buying this in the old HMV in Oxford street in 1980, and looking at the aray of pictures on the inside, although the 'forest' photo on the rear is possibly my favourite TD photo.
From start to finish this is as true a live document of TD as you can get.
Coldwater canyon literally blew my mind when I first heard it and it still gived the same emotion till this day.
Brilliant - pity TD lost the masters of this one.

I rarely played this side as there are no sequencers in it (!!!!!!!!).

I must admit to quite liking this now, as I'm more able to kick back and let it flow......

Freudian connotations perhaps?

Therefore its 30yrs of Td listening for me. Cold Water Canyon was my first love. The missus is placed just behind Towards the Evening Star at number 23.
