Wich album of the last decade is your favorite?

Post by la sagesse du destin »

It's now the end of the first decade of the 21th century. For the fans it was full of events, great shows and fantastic music.
I suggest this little pool for the best CD of the decade
non including reworking CD ( DM,Phaedra 2005,Antology Space Years.....)
non including news albums for old tracks (Antique Dreams,Bootleg sets,Bootmoon,Vault...)
non including EP,cup discs and mini cup discs
non including compilations.
non including solo works.
non including the divine comedy.(it's another pool about it,and it's not possible to make a pool with more than 10 answers)

Of course we have perhaps different opinions every day, but at this time my vote is for Summer in Nagasaki, a masterpiece from Edgar.

Even with all the rest removed its a very difficult choice to nail down just one !

Id have to go for Views from A Red Train , as I played it non stop fpr months and still get the same satifaction out of it now.

But I can't just push JDA , the Atomic Seasons, to one side !

None of those I've heard have blown me away, though madcap was a bold adventure, and I've finally got my head around Views FRT, Jean D'arc could have been Epic , but wasn't and Chandra isn't for me a TD record at all. I can't speak about the atomic seasons as I've only bought summer - it's OK.

The best thing I've heard from TD this last dacade is Booster, but I live in hope that with a focus of the Royal Albert Hall gig next year the band will allow themselves the time, and stretch themselves artistically to produce something truely great, a considered masterpiece , not the sketch ideas of late. I live in hope, because this band is capable of that. As for being critical —I've got a lifetime tied up with TD and I know what they are capable of, If I didn't love them so much I wouldn't judge them so harshly.

Only my opinion of course, disregard as appropriate.

Summer wins!

Definitely SUMMER IN NAGASAKI. If you ask Edgar, I think he will tell you that SIN was the only album he "had the flow" from wall to wall.

I chose Autumn in Hiroshima because, to me, it is one of TD's all time best albums. Coherent in its storytelling and musically very emotional. I listen to it in full quite often.

My second favorite would probably be Purgatorio, which for some reason isn't included in this poll. When the Dante albums are included it becomes clear just what an amazing decade it has been.

A very difficult job to choose from some fantastic albums.

As an Edgar Froese penned work it would have to be the outstanding "Summer in Nagasaki" which is the stand out so far in this very impressive trilogy with "Views From A Red Train" a close second.

As a group penned work it would have to be "Jeanne D'Arc" which IMHO is one of the most impressive "group" compositions TD have released in their entire history,a very polished high standard album.

Every album in that list carries its own special merits

RIP Edgar. I am going to miss you.
