Horns of Doom

Post by Chris Monk »

Thanks to Jeffrey Au-Yeung and Chris Newman on Facebook I've just been listening to a studio version of Horns of Doom on Youtube. Apparently it was released on something called the Jubileum Cassette and it sounds pretty cool.

Has this ever been released on CD?

....and if you're looking in EF can we have this on the next Booster please.

No official CD release...but it can be found on a certain notorious boot.

Thanks goozer. Would I be right in thinking that the boot is a notorious 4 CD set?

One could surmise that, I suppose.

Your right. Had to check with Voices in the Net, I'm not familiar with that boot.

Isn't it about time we had an official release?

this is a marvelous track. deserves to be put on an official release (as unlikely as that would be)

My recollection is that Horns of Doom was released as part of a music compilation by a electronic music fan club named "KLEM". As I recall, it was credited to Chris on that release, not the band. It is, of course, part 3 of the tune now known as The Silver Scale. Versions of it can be heard being played on various live bootlegs from 1980-1981 shows and officially released versions of those bootlegs.

TD have played the Silver Scale sans The Horns of Doom in more recent shows. If it was composed by Chris I doubt it will show up on any current TD releases.

Yes, it was originally on the KLEM Jubileumcassette back in '86 - and according to Edgar, Chris did this without permission. Who knows, maybe we'll get an official release of this one like we did with the other track he took, 'Vermillion Sands' - er...'Cool Breeze of Brighton'...um, 'Modesty and Greed'.
