What if TD did an album of Classical covers?

Post by Desert_Voyager »

I really do believe it would be sheer class, so my choices would be:

Bruckner's Symphony No 9 - The first Movement
Wagner - The Ride of the Valkyries
Bach - Tocatta and Fugue in D minor BWV 565
Allegri - Miserere
Robert Carver - O Bone Jesu, motet for 19 voices
Beethoven - Moonlight Sonata

What would yours be?

Wasn't there such a release planned some years ago:

I'm sure there was, on the TDI lable when Jerome was still in the band - I remember that there was even some cover art put on the old TD website. Don't think the CD was ever released.

Edgar, EB - do you remember?

It was Star Trooper "The Classical Edge of Tangerine Dream", should have been released in 1999.

Also there were another 2 albums around the same time that were never
released. Twilight Folder and Lion's Share.

Now this idea I like

Elgar - Nimrod and much of variations, plus his Cello Concerto
Albinoni -Adagio
Pachelbel - Canon
Manfredini - Concerto grossi

Off two of my favourite and well played Classical CDs.

Think this would be a great idea for TD 8)

Any idea what was going to be on these albums by any chance?

Pity these projects never got released, wonder if they are still lurking around somewhere.

Not really. All three had been advertised as forthcoming releases, but none ever saw the light of day. If |I remember rightly, Twilight Folder was going to include old unreleased tracks, and Lion's Share was billed as a new album. I guess the music intended for both was re-used in some other project(s).

NO NO NO!!

I always skip the tracks on albums like Turn Of The Tides and Tyranny Of Beauty where TD goes classical.

I just don't think it works at all.

If TD did do a Classical album I hope that they'd take some liberties with the music. If it was just a carbon-copy with electronic instruments I probably wouldn't be interested.
