Hi Everyone!

I used to be a member on the old TD forum but was locked out one day (?) and couldn't get back in. I've lurked around ever since, trying to keep up to date with EF and co. but since the release rate just keeps on growing that's no easy task!

My constant obsession, being economically challenged, is to cram as much good music on my mp3 player as possible and in the case of TD, that means trying to capture the essence. To do this, I've put in many hours of research and planning (thanks to the progarchives, voices in the net, wikipedia, and you guys) and bought a number of TD compilations to pick out a decent amount of material 1970-2010, limited to 800 minutes (clocks in at 789 minutes, 10 cds were I to burn it, currently just playlists) and put it in chronological order (-ish).

So, why am I telling you this? Truthfully I don't know, except to say constructive feedback is always a good thing. So I'm giving you the complete playlists (divided up into those imaginare cds) and would appreciate any well-meaning feedback I can get, concerning my choice of tracks etc. At worst it's just a sampler and I'll admit from the outset it's lacking references to a lot of soundtrack work, but I hope it's a decent overview, and my dream is, as I said, to capture the essence.

To begin with, the releases I have are:

The Collection (castle) (1 disc)
The Virgin Years, 1974-1978 (3 discs)
Dream Sequence (2 discs)
Book of Dreams (2 discs)
Tang-Go (2 discs)
An Electronic Journey (10 discs)
Ballads (4 discs)
Axiat (1 disc)

Did something similar myself when making CDr's for the car. Took ages selecting the tracks and eventually burnt off dozens of CDr's.

to capture the essence, try a playlist of trees and leaves from 1970-1980...especially 73-77 :D :D

i was gonna say something similar, but i didn't know what era to go for specifically.

and there's so much studio stuff that needs attention

ok, even though i don't need to at all, i'm so much of a fanboy i'm gonna devise my own list

Agree. My iPod (#1) is loaded with all em/ambient music. I tend to play the tree or leaves more than the regular TD's music. Especially when I'm driving.

early-mid 70's shows are the best soundtracks to a late night drive.
