TD post-Virgin suggestions

Post by Valen »

Hi Guys

Just joined the board, having rediscovered TD.

I already have all the Virgin albums, and am working my way through the earlier ones.

But where do I go from here?

Can you recommend albums from the Jive period right up to the current stuff? I'm looking for consistently good albums, rather than albums with a couple of killer tracks.

Cheers

Poland, Underwater Sunlight, Live Miles, all of the Five Automic Seasons, but particularly Summer in Nagasaki and Autumn in Hiroshima. If you get the latest live releases you will have a very good idea of the current state of the Dream. Also, check out Loom, the band that includes Edgar's son Jerome and Johannes Schmoelling.

Don't know what country you're in, but there are a lot of TD albums on Spotify, if you have access to that. Can listen to full length tracks

Melrose and Lily On The Beach are good, and I like Rockoon - although a lot of folk seem to not like it.

Oh, one other thing in case you aren't aware. Michael Berling has a web site called Voices in the Net. It is filled with TD info such as albums, concert dates and whether fan tapes exist, etc. It is a treasure trove of reliable information for TD fans.

Must have for me post Virgin era are; Poland, Le Parc, Underwater Sunlight, Miracle Mile OST, Firestarter OST, and Flashpoint OST ('natch)

For Poland the only CD release that is not dead, dull and lifeless is the Original 2CD Relativity. The Relativity is also complete. What to keep in mind is the recording is rather sterile the original relativity is a good as it gets and IMHO it sounds pretty much like the vinyl.

All those mentioned above are great albums. For me I would strongly recommend ;

Underwater Sunlight
Jeane D'arc
Spring and Summer in Nagasaki
Angel From the West Window
Finnegans Wake
and ESPECIALLY Island Of The Fay which is magnificent.

Try getting the Booster album which has Purple Diluvial on it. Think it is IV.

And lastly one of the best ever pieces of TD modern era music is the cup disc METAPHOR. Utterly brilliant but can be expensive to track down now. Is available as a download from here though.

Hope you enjoy catching up with TD 8)
