Lost In Strings

Post by la sagesse du destin »

Excerpt of the News -Tangerine Dream July 2013:

- LOST IN STRINGS (Double CD) - Compilation of guitar tracks EDGAR composed and is performing - including NEW compositions, too! So far a collection of Edgar's guitar works alone doesn't not yet exist and we thought it's time to release this now. Many fans - especially from the USA - were asking for such a compilation after the last US tour in 2012 and we now are fullfilling this wish - enjoy!

What a great Idea

There are so many nice guitar Tracks.
It will be very difficult to make a choice.
Perhaps Hamlet,
Perhaps Ride on the Ray
Perhaps Coldwater Canyon
Perhaps Sungate
Perhaps Dr Destructo
Perhaps Kashmir
Perhaps Hermaphrodite
Perhaps...

and so many others.
I'm very exiting about the new compositions.
.

This topic is too the opportunity to celebrate the fantastic guitar Work of Edgar since all these Years.

Charles
Infinite thanks to all the peoples from Eastgate and TD for the Japan Raffle.

Edgar's guitar tracks are all great, but I'm really hoping for live versions. For me, Edgar getting up from his keyboard and strapping on his guitar is always a highlight of any show. He is superb live. My favorite guitar players are David Gilmour, Robert Fripp, and Edgar Froese. But if you told me all three were in town, and I had to choose one show it would be an easy choice. Edgar!

I think "The Seven Barriers" from The Endless Season is not only a real highlight for that album, but also for all of Edgar's career and TD's history. Not saying it's the best one ever because simply there are too many great ones and it's very complicated to pick one and give it this kind of label, but, to me at least, there's just something about this track that shows how skilled Edgar is with the guitar. It simplifies his skill: The many processes he has followed, the experimentations he has approached, the way he has matured, the improvement of his style and his compositions, etc., etc. It all comes so smooth and it's almost the perfect track, especially the first few minutes. Even when you thnk it's gonna get repetitive in the last half, it gives you an unexpected turn. Love it.

"Hamlet" (especially the 220 Volt Live version) is a classic!!!

Deffo - I'd only say that I think the track would get to 11 with a human drummer, so let Iris go

For me, Coldwater Canyon is Edgar's finest guitar moment and I'd love to hear an updated version

Don't see too many new compositions on this one actually. The other new release has 4, but this one only has 1 as far as i can work out.
Might have been more tempted by this 2CD set if there were more new tracks here. (But will probably get it anyway :) )
