Sfearical Sequence wrote:burningbrain wrote:It's right that the first version was the live-one in 1986.
But it appeared also on the original Score from the movie "Zoning" in 1987 (maybe the soundtrack was done back in 1986), but not on the 90s Soundtrack CD, re-done by Edgar.
Then in 1989 a Chris Franke Version appeared on the first KLEM-Compilation-CD.
Listen to "Scrap Yard" from Thief (1981) and then listen to "Cool Breeze of Brighton."
There's the same synth theme… Otherwise it doesn't strike me as too similar.
Just checked out the Zoning pieces. Many different takes on this sequence bundle, actually!
There is however still a version older than '86: dig out your copy of The Park Is Mine, and check out Taking The Park Part 2. It's (almost) all there — the high and fast opening, the little "blinky" sounds in the background, the bass sequence midway thru, the beefier bass sequence near the end…
Here's how I look at it:
Code: Select all
Scrap Yard → Cool Breeze of Brighton → Ride on the Ray
↗ ↘
Taking the Park pt 2 Modesty and Greed
↘
Vermillion Sands
So is Scrap Yard 2008 based on the Thief version or one of these other pieces? I'm curious here.
