Cancelled 1973 UK tour

Post by 24db »

And the plot thickens ;)

The latter half of 1973 however was to be quite hectic. First there was news that Tangerine Dream had been offered a tour of Britain. Alas, this was not to come off. The London agency offered them £700 for 10 gigs in England and Scotland. They get this for only 2 in Germany however, and the agency refused to offer any more so the tour fell through. Secondly came the news of a break with the German record company Ohr. This was due to several reasons: one was that the company would not print information about the group in English, even though they had many fans in England who naturally wanted to know all about the band; two - Tangerine Dream wanted their LPs released in other countries, such as England and also America (where they are becoming quite popular). This couldn't be done however under their contract with the company. These plus other problems, and their failure to promote Tangerine Dreams LPs to the group's satisfaction, led to Ohr and the group severing ties.
