Took a fast look, see there are some minor differences (I suppose due to translation), but need more time to read all, and compare both versions, and am a slow reader

Might be worth comparing this with Kent Eskildsen's '30 years of Dreaming' over on Jacobs' site:

Well the German Rock one gives more than Kent Eskildsen's one, only Kent's is more positive than Paul Stump's Digital Gothic. Only Digital Gothic had a far better Historical overview.

I've paid money for it too. was very dissapointed after reading it. The histrical part was very good but after that it was one and a long negative story.

Got to agree, although a few fans liked it (afterall it was the first and only professional histories on the group). Personally it added nothing to which I already knew.

Well the only new thing in the book was the review of the music. And if you gonna do that you to split the good anf the bad things. But what happend Stump got negative. I didn't like that because nothing was wright, it went all down. No there is no good book, i'm waiting for Edgar's book, if it will appear.....let's hope it will.

Got to be honest here Andy, Im amazed that you haven't had a go at writing a TD biography yourself. Your encyclopaedic knowledge of all things TD and your seemingly endless supply of archive material would make you the ideal candidate.

As for Digital Gothic I never did buy a copy, the idea of a critical review really turned me off. I'm really not interested in what a critic thinks of TD's back catalogue, I'm old enough and ugly enough to make up my own mind about the music.

Cheers Chris, well to be honest there's several reasons why I haven't, firstly to be honest I don't think I have the talent to make it interesting over an entire book. With almost 40 years of material available, it's more a fact of what you'd leave out, rather than what you would include, and that draws you into the danger of only writing what 99% of fans would already know (and believe me that would be almost as boring to write as it would be to read). Secondly the whole copyright issue is a complete pain in arse, it would take years and years to cover all the legal issues. Lastly the shear amount of effort would be daunting. I've been collecting press cuttings for about 10 years (well over 1300 different items, including tickets, adverts, press photos and passes), I've got these in about 9 folders, roughly about 5 feet worths of shelf space.

One footnote, only one man knows all the real story about TD...and it aint me.

'for me' the whole blog idea is much better (many thanks to Jeffrey au Yeung for the idea), that way I can add things as and when I scan, correct or receive them. It might be a fairly random way of doing things, but it's really easy....and more people should do it ;)

i agree with andy.

it is a great injustice that td have no real biographical tome in print, that assesses them from a musical, artistisic and critical perspective, digital gothic, while biased and ephemeral just was not good enough.......to bring together 40 years of history would be an immense labour of love, money and will........

maybe we should await Edgars book.....and in the meantime we have the fan based love......and dedication of the few.....
