What made them wellknown worldwide

Post by tangmaster »

For me the most important historical moments for TD (and not saying they were the best albums ever) are Atem and Phaedra, both albums did made the history of TD. All before and after those two releases made them even bigger. Every musical point has a start of getting big.
The way a world of dreams is going on!

Yes this piece of music certainly had a contributing factor "Pheadra" also possibly the style of concerts they performed with the high tech stage settings & of course the captivating melodic & rhymtic sequences that where used . They had a style untouched & very experimental & they where not afraid to push forward the musical barriers.

It was Phaedra that brought TD to my attention and it still gets plenty of airplay here. In truth, I was spellbound by the album cover and when I heard "Mysterious Semblance...." for the first time, I knew there was no turning back!

Would have to agree with Mick here,i think he has got it spot on and of course John Peels influence had quite a bit to to with their breakthrough here  Phaedra is a milestone in their long and illustrious career,i wonder what would have happened if "Green Desert" had been released instead :? Mind you,i would have loved to heard the actual recording of this,im a BIG fan of the title track
RIP Edgar. I am going to miss you.

The one vote so far from Atem was me..Mistake I'm afraid

Phaedra was the start of a new era for TD and if they had continued in the style of the Pink Years I don't think they would have been so popular.

I never put any store in these ratings sites. Some of the scores are frankly laughable.
