Curiosities.....

Post by Schmoelling in wonderland »

Hope you enjoy some of the clips i found.

Here a clip from a autograph session of TD in 2009 or 2010.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejH7xBgcfs4

I only have a comment. This is personal but if i was in the place of Linda Spa or Iris, i could feel a bit uncomfortable to sign the Phaedra album because there not involve at all on that record...

And to make you smile, this is a clip from someone who take his time to make a clip showing "classic" beauty with TD music. Why not.... ??

I had already seen the collage of TV and movie starlets set to "Beach Theme", but nice to see it again; still makes me smile.

The video of the signing session in Japan was interesting to look at from a curiosity perspective. I see what you mean about Phaedra, but then how could they possibly refuse to sign it, without seeming impolite? No big deal ...

Thanks for the links. There's another vaguely amusing YouTube posting (not sure if it's still there) by someone who's filmed their girlfriend swimming and diving into a pool -- again, "Beach Theme" is the soundtrack!

If I owned the Phaedra LP, I would surely not have handed it over to people who didn't play on the record to sign it.

Also, I think Linda and Iris could say "I didn't play on this one", and then let the LP owner decide if he wants an autograph or not.

I thought the same thing when I saw that clip a while back.

it's a bit like me signing an Elvis album

I've got absolutely nothing to do with its creation at all

Quite so that Edgar Froese was the only person there to have been involved on the record. But I suppose you could say that any genuine fan bringing along a copy of the record to be signed would surely know that.

I do think the other current members of TD would not wish to seem impolite in refusing to sign it. And surely they would not need to explain that they weren't on the record (too young for that to have been so!), unless, as with some book signings, you get these vultures who are not true fans and only want to augment the value of the item by getting a signature on it . Equally a real fan may (rightly or wrongly) feel it would seem rude to ignore the other band members and only ask Edgar to sign the LP.

Now with all this second guessing, I think it was easier and quite right for Iris and Linda to be gracious and sign the album if requested to do so. I don't think it's that big a deal.

btw I think all this 'they should sign it' is a bit of nonsense...firstly they're only signing it because somebody thrust it under their nose and therefore because they're very polite they sign it. Also (and you must try this at home kids)...if you don't turn up with an album and just give TD or rather Edgar, a blank piece of paper to sign...he'll say no.

Really? Well not as bad as Steve Martin who has an ink stamp that he has with him so if any fan asks for his autograph he just stamps it.
