REMNANTS - Live + CD

Hello folks,

Delighted to report that Thorsten's soundtrack to my film REMNANTS will be released on GROOVE UNLIMITED on November 16th.

Don't quote me...!!!...but it's my understanding so far that this might be a sort of initial 'pre-release', featuring a couple of other tracks from NATATORIUM to extend the running time. A different version may be on the cards for 're-release' early in 2014.

It coincides with PPM's late 2013 German tour, in which they will perform the soundtrack live in 3 planetariums, to a custom 4k version of the film that I made for 'FullDome' projection.

Really great to see such a positive response so far to the REMNANTS soundtrack.

Incidentally, if you cut out the tracks MOON DIAL and BLUE HOUR GLASS from this initial Groove release, and stick the other two parts together, then you end up very close to the original 35 min. score....with some very minor differences to the version that accompanies the film.

Again, don't quote me!!!! But I think this first release ties into TQ + PPM's 'Synths Don't Lie 2013' tour, and next year may see a re-release featuring the original, continuous film score, with perhaps some new material / alternate mixes.

Thorsten has expressed an interest in playing live to the film elsewhere sometime in the future, so maybe, just maybe a whistle-stop PPM tour of the UK - say, in various cinemas and planetariums - could happen. I'd love it if a show took place at next year's Widescreen Weekend event in Bradford's Pictureville Theatre, where the world premiere of the 2k DCP version was held.

But just trying to get screenings of the 2k DCP has been like pulling teeth, but this coming December / January I'm embarking on a major push, so we'll see what happens. It's vastly superior (in terms of clarity + detail) to the 'FullDome' version, which, sadly, by its nature is not too friendly to 'real world' photography and is mostly a CGI medium.
