Jerome Froese - Orange Sized Dreams (Works 1990-1995)

Post by Jon »

I just ordered this one. I had kind of forgotten that it existed. Looks like an interesting track list.

Any comments from people who own it?

Several interesting takes on the TD tracks. I have it, but not listened for a while. My "relationship" to Jerome is a bit on and off. He is clearly a masterful producer, but probably also having some grudges towards certain people.
But I have pre-ordered the Brücken/Froese album Beginn. A bit excited about that one.

Yes, looking forward to BEGINN.

I guess we just have to accept that Jerome doesn't like the current version of TD, and that he never will. Maybe the "grudge" thing runs in the family, Edgar was also a person who seemed to have similar feelings towards certain individuals although the book wasn't as clear on these things as I thought it would be.

Very interesting compilation. Some fairly close edits, others have much more drive now. I think I approve of generally getting rid of the excess vocal sampling that was all the rage back at the time…

can be sampled here BTW  https://jeromefroese.bandcamp.com/album ... mp-edition

Does anyone else feel like the guitar heavy mix of Twilight Brigrade just sounds off vs. the original?

Maybe it's because it's one of my favorite TD tracks, and I appreciate that the guitar is heavier in the mix, but it feels like there are segments of the track where you can't hear the melody or counter melody.

It's neat to hear this version, but I think they probably got it right in choosing the album edit in 1992.

Whereas with something like Firetongues or even the entire Rocking Mars recording, I appreciate the additional guitars vs the album versions, because in those cases, they augmented what was familiar, this new version of Twilight Brigade just sounds like parts are totally missing.
