It was just done as a bit of fun and a break from the more serious side of TD music and I think it is great. Edgar and co have done a fine job, IMHO, and I personally look forward to more covers in the future. I just hope the 'negative' reviews don't put them off doing Chapter 2 because I am really looking forward to it. Keep 'em coming TD and Edgar, you did not make a mistake doing this - it was inspired, fun and really enjoyable. :D
It's not a perfect TD album, far from it, but it shows a different side to the TD universe that I've found very welcome. Like Marillion's Less Is More (reinterpretations of existing tracks) it was a bit of fun for TD and fans alike. Who can complain when TD release approx 5 albums a year?

Ok, I don't think it always works if you compare the original tracks, but as part of a potential series, I quite like it. It'd be cool to hear a few covers at future gigs. Imagine us singing along to a track at a TD gig?

A project like this - a departure from existing material - will always get the haters. I remember the backlash over Madcap's Flaming Duty, but thankfully that does not deter the brave. :D

Each to their own, my friends!

To be fair I don't think there was much of a backlash with Madcap's Flaming Duty, it seemed to me to be fairly well received. However there was a small but quite vocal minority who seemed intent on dissing it. I remember one kind sole (well some sort of sole) who'd reviewed it on Amazon before it had even been released.
