NEW RELEASES

Post by epsilon75 »

Hi Guys,

Finally good news!! First of all, Edgar is on the road to recovery after his accident (left hospital now) and Linda has almost recovered from her disease! Both are emphasizing once again how sad they and the whole band were to cancel the participation on the “Cruise To The Edge Tour” by the end of March. But, as the organizer confirmed on his Facebook site, he will invite Tangerine Dream once again to another cruise in the near future.

STARMUS – SONIC UNIVERSE – CD

Secondly – after a long wait we are proud to announce the eagerly-awaited CD production of “STARMUS – SONIC UNIVERSE”, a release of the sensational musical collaboration between two legendary names: Brian May and Tangerine Dream. Brian May had been for decades the great guitar player, arranger and co-singer with one of the greatest rock bands of all time: QUEEN.

Tangerine Dream came from a complete different angel of the musical world.

Being the first band ever using Moog sequencer rhythm live on stage, being called the early masterminds of ambient sound and highly acclaimed Hollywood film composers for many years, Tangerine Dream have set more than one landmark in musical history.

Now here is the result of a very unusual concert of the two legends at the Starmus Festival on the Island of Tenerife. In June 2011 this festival was held in the honor of the 50th Anniversary of Juri Gagarin’s first spaceflight. Among the guests you could witness Neil Armstrong (first man on the moon) in one of his last public appearances and Buzz Aldrin (second man on the moon), Alexei Leonow - first man stepping out of his capsule into space, Valentina Tereschkowa – first female astronaut in space and Jim Lovell (astronaut of the 2nd NASA mission) and many more.

The first track of the CD - “Supernova” - integrates ORIGINAL, REAL STAR SOUNDS – something very special. Can you imagine how the sun sounds in space? Get an idea of this sound when listening to SUPERNOVA. Enjoy with this release the highlights of TD’s musical career in combination with Brian May’s unique guitar.

More details to the live set on Tuesday!

LIVE AT ADMIRALSPALAST BERLIN - DVD

There are quite a few TD Concerts were maybe a CD release is good enough to cover the musical atmosphere. Even if the concert was professionally filmed, the band wasn’t always sure to release both formats. But people kept asking for the images from the “Berlin Admiralspalast" concert, part of THE ELECTRIC MANDARINE TOUR 2012, in one of the legendary old theatres in Berlin. So, nearly one year after, you can watch this strange gig showing the band again in the city were everything began 45 years ago. This is not just a concert, it’s a historic document. A young dream at the old destroyed wall of desire.

See more details in the shop on Tuesday.

CRUISE TO DESTINY - CD

On March 26th, 2013 at 8 pm Tangerine Dream should have started with the first set of the great “Cruise To The Edge” concert together with Yes, Saga, Carl Palmer, Steve Hackett and many more. TD planned some extraordinary surprises including the invitation of a real female superstar to sing a kind of a ‘Titanic’ parody of the famous Mancini song “Moon River” (from the movie “Breakfast At Tiffany’s”). It could have been a very surreal and funny performance at moonlight in the middle of the Caribbean Sea….

But destiny obviously had other plans….with regard to Edgar’s fall on icy ground with breaks and Linda’s unpredictable disease….which finally both led to the cancellation of the two planned concerts as explained in the Forum before.

Fortunately mid of January the band did a rehearsal recording of almost 60% of the concert with all members playing their original parts. So you will hear a big portion of the music planned to be performed on the cruise – like a sonic ghostly gig on a vessel that happens even if no one of the band was present….Enjoy CRUISE TO DESTINY!

More details coming on Tuesday!

All other projects previously announced are in the pipeline as well, but due to Edgar's accident TD will need more time to realize them (KAFKA's THE CASTLE, LUXURY PACK of the MANDARINE TOUR, UNDER COVER II etc.). We hope you understand, thank you.

Yes indeed.

But given the circumstances it would have been funny to call the new CD "Cruise To Nowhere"

03. Ashes To Ashes
04. Tyger
05. Sunrise In The 3rd System
