so if track 3 was due to a mistake in the recording ....then is there a recording out there of how it was originally meant to sound ?

Force Majeure is the first TD album I bought (not the first I heard). It's really good and convinced me of the vast importance of TD's legacy. I love the cover art. It's brutal, enigmatic and stylish at the same time. It is also very fitting with the music and the name of the album.

Don't think so JD....Edgar's story was that the mistake (whatever it was) actually happened during the recording, so the mistake was recorded in real time 'as it happened'. But they liked the way it sounded, so they left the mistake in!

There's a faint, high-pitched, unmusical beeping sound throughout the most part of "Metamorphic" which you can hear with headphones on. It starts around 4:40 and goes on till the end of the track. It's "behind" the modulated noise effects. Maybe it's an artifact of the mistake. Anyway I like the track the way it is.

BM has been revisiting FM over the past few days [research for the upcoming MG cd-false manure/false midge ure], sometimes its instructive to listen again to a TD record with a different angle: one of careful analysis of the technical structure of the music, rather than the usual way I listen.

its a wonder, FM, is a wonder....

Agreed. A classic in every sense of the word.
