Logostypes

Post by NAVEL OF LIGHT »

does anyone on here know of the origins of the cd entitled Logostypes~Polygon Studio 1982? The cover is a picture of CF's studio simular to the pic on the inside of his Pacific Coast Highway album and the rear cover is of EF,CF and JS. The music is one long piece containing themes from Logos, The Keep and White Eagle and Exit and some unreleased music. There is no audience sounds.
Tracklisting:Infernal Device,Hijack,Rush Of Joy,Mirage,Desert Run,Renewed Purpose,Dreamscape.Choronzon,Tangent,Mojave Plan,Harbour Entry,Last Hope,The Keep:Dark Atmosphere,Black Light,Release,Descent Into Madness.

Obviously as with most boots, the people who have released this cd may have taken some 'artistic license' with the titles but the full 8min version of Choronzon and Tangent are superb.

Anyone know any more?

Logostypes is taken from a rehearsal session for the set played on the "Logos" tour and contains the music cut from the official release.

It's a shame the vault releases stopped before reaching this period.

Cheers,
Dave

Logostypes is a bootleg, but it's not a studio rehearsal. Compare it with TT61: Berlin ICC '82 and you will find the same recording (in a better remastered form). The reason there's no audience sounds, is because it's from a soundboard recording.
So with TT61, Logostypes is obsolete.

Quoting from the liner notes:

"This disc was taken from a soundboard cassette of the rehearsals for
the 1982 fall tour."

I'm afraid that's incorrect. Never trust a bootleg! :P

Hmmm, I guess it's trying to make itself more authentic by having mistakes in the sleeve notes, just like a real TD release. :)

True. My copy of Logostype (when I had it) stated that it was from a soundboard recording of the November 15, 1982 performance at the Berlin ICC (Tangerine Tree Vol. 61).

Yeah, that is true, but nevertheless it is a fine bootleg.

I know a little about it...

Well, first of all, it's real title is "Logotypes", not "Logostypes"...the error came about due to a misunderstanding of the spoken title over the phone that ended up on the 'test' releases. Second, some of the track titles correspond to scenes in the films they ended up in (The Soldier and The Keep.) Third, the deception on the cover as to the source was deliberate, as the individual who supplied the tape wished to remain anonymous, for obvious reasons at the time. It's actually an amusing story that I am not at liberty to share.
