AQUA

Virgin records promotional blurb for Edgar's first album:

This is the first solo album by the leader of Tangerine Dream, the German band whose recent album, Phaedra, has been a considerable chart success and drawn a great deal of critical praise:

"The music is fluid, eerie and beautiful" - Music Week, and in Sounds . . . Phaedra is involved with the timeless dignity of all great music. . ."

Edgar has, for some years now, been considered as a leading figure by fellow German musicians, and has contributed strongly to the development of a whole new style of rock music in Germany. With the release of Aqua, he shows for the first time on record, exactly why his individual reputation has been so strong. Outside the context of Tangerine Dream, Edgar develops his own ideas to the point where he has produced something that is equally as impressive as Phaedra - success of which should guarantee the popularity of Aqua.

An additional point of interest is the use of the revolutionary new "Artifical Head" recording system on the album - the first time a recording made by this method has been released in Britain. When heard on headphones, the result is 360° of sound - a unique experience, which goes far beyond quadrophonic.

An excellent album, although the Virgin version that i have on CD certainly shows the age of the tapes that the music came from....

Does anyone know if a cleaner version exists ???

Thanks BM.

I've got Aqua 2005, which i do like, although it certainly is a re-work in every sense of the word.

I recently dusted down the old turntable, so i might have a look on ebay for a copy on vinyl....

Wow that's expensive.....

I was thinkin' more ebay.....

under a fiver (£5)...

with free postage....

in mint condition...

still in the plastic wrapper, with the actual vinyl untouched by human hand in the 34 years since it's release.....

with the cover autographed by Edgar himself....

one can but dream.....

I also own the virgin album. I think it sounds just fine.
Like the old noise, makes it authentic.
