I must admit I had high hopes for Autumn in Hiroshima after hearing Trauma 'live' in Edinburgh. I'm afraid I was pretty disappointed and feel the quality declines rapidly towards the end of the album. The last track in particular is poor and seems to trail off to nothing...

Summer in Nagasaki I felt was more consistent, despite not having anything on it of the quality of 'Autumn'.

Cheers...

Each to their own RS,maybe after a few more listens you will enjoy it more, but if not maybe one of the other's in the series will become your favorite.

I do like "Autumn" very much and as has been said "Trauma" is a real beauty of a track and i wish "Oracular World" was longer.

I think "AIH" has just about been my favorite so far,but i can find merit in all, cant wait for the next installment.

Welcome to the forum
RIP Edgar. I am going to miss you.

They had one perfect disc this year, Purple Diluvial, so everything else is a bonus anyway in my view. ;-)
Imagine, in the 70s, 80s and 90s, one (studio) disc per year was all we got!

AUTUMN IN HIROSHIMA - for me the absolute best release of the year!
A mature work of the Master.

I agree there's been some very good stuff of late. I just find it's padded out on albums with a lot of mediocre material. The balance in the past has normally been the other way round, ie one 'turkey' track rather than one 'really good' track.

Less is more...

Mind you, compared with a lot of the stuff from the 1990s, this is masterpiece stuff!

AIH is a masterpiece and the closing track "Nothing and All" is the best short track ever IMHO

Best release for me this year is Views from a Red Train but Autumn comes a fairly close second. It's nice that TD can do two so different high quality albums so close together.

I think Autumn is possibly, maybe, my favourite release of the three atomics so far. Not easy to choose between them though.

Not quite so keen on track3 with the lassie singing, but the rest is magnificent.

Been listening to this and Seven letters from Tibet all week. 8)

What can I say??? What a great album, and it's quickly becoming one of my favourites - and probably one of the most consistant TD albums of recent years. Some great ideas - and some familiar old sounds (FM7 six string patch, need I say more??)
