I've just been reading his "Saga of the Seven Suns" series which has been very entertaining, if you ignore the plot-holes. They must be pretty good reading since I've been through six books in two months.

I love The Saga Of Seven Suns! Very entertaining and inventive sci-fi. I should start book number 4 soon. There are 7 volumes all in all. Hope you will enjoy Terra Incognita: The Edge Of The World as well.

Now I have started to read an epic stand-alone fantasy from Tad Williams called The War Of The Flowers. It's about a not so successfull rock musician who discovers a modern fairy-tale land. 100 pages into it so far, and it is amazing!

The Handmaid's Tale, Margaret Atwood

Dunno

On the one hand it felt like it had become recognised as a classic by those who wouldn't normally read SF and is simply about the woman's fears of an extreme patriarchal society.

On the other hand it's a damn fine bit of writing for the most part.

Chap at work is trying to get me into Terry Pratchett, so Mort may be next. Any fans here?
imho

I started a Terry Pratchet book & after 30 pages gave up...too much humour and although maybe all fantasy books are a bit weird this one took the biscuit. My doctor is an avid fan and even has a few signed forst editions.

On Terry Pratchet I'm told it' best to start with his first Discworld novel and work through them.

Quite like Terry Pratchett myself. The first few books were the best but they've been tailing off a bit lately IMO.

PS Signed first editions aren't that rare. According to Terry, he's signed so many that an unsigned first edition is probably rarer....

...but then again he's probably only joking.
