Played through the CD once. It's quite good, not phenomenal, but I understand why fans of late 70s/early 80s TD like this, as the sequencers are present. I agree with many that the last track seems like the best one, but no tracks made me really stand up and take notice, as the best tracks from Madcap did.

I miss some guitar works from Beibl, and even some sax from Spa. I'm not a massive fan of a more or less totally electronic production.

I guess the album will grow on me, after the first listen there are four eyes on the dice.

I love this album! I think it's the best thing TD have done since Mars Polaris.

I find that with this album, I can quite happily listen to the entire thing, and then immediately listen to it all again. There's not many albums like that.

I'm really glad I bought a copy of IotF before going to the Lowry.
I was already pretty impressed with it before the gig.
Hearing Darkness Veiling the Night live at the end of the first set was absolutely incredible, certainly better than the CD version played through really good hifi.
No matter how much I have invested in my HiFi (don't ask!), TD at their best, live, always blow me away.
What a damn shame the sound for the gig was so badly flawed.
No video cameras in evidence, so no DVD & mixing that bad, not much chance of a live CD 8-(

Not necessarily "no chance of a live CD" - I always assumed that the mix heard at at live show could be tinkered with afterwards if it's recorded on a multitrack ? or is this wrong ?

My ears must be shot. I didn't think that the sound at The Lowry was that bad. The bass was a little over-the-top at the start of Long Island Sunset but that was soon rectified and some of the violin played by Hoshiko was a little down in the mix. Apart from that I thought the sound was OK. I hope that it gets a CD release. Obviously a DVD is out of the question.

Nice that so many tracks from Island Of The Fay got an airing at the show. Just goes to show what a strong album it is.

My first comment (belated of course)

It beats me how they continually surpass. Excellent once again.
Thorsten is a great foil for Edger, there is no doubt.

Listening to "Darkness Veiling the Night" (and at the Lowry too, GREAT!)
at about 6:20, there is a key change.

Now, when did TD have a key change in a piece like that?
(I'm not a music expert, but has anyone else noticed it?)
I can't think of a similar structural composition.

:-)
