Oh, and photos, scans and perhaps few short AVI videos as well :)

BTW great to meet so many TD fans (God knows how everyone knew who I was, that's the mystery gone :D), many thanks to Colin, Chris's x 3, Daz, Ben, Theo, the mighty Big Moog (he exists I tell you!), Stephen, Mick, Heiko's x 2. Special thanks to Thorsten and Chris (btw didn't Thorsten looked scared at the pub after everyone cheered :D :D)
Bit miffed Andy, saw some of your concert photos on Redzillers photopage and you must have been pretty close to me and the missus. Had I known I'd have said Hi. was looking out for Colin, because he's easily recognisable, but didn't see him at all. Would have loved to have met thee BM but hadn't a clue what he looked like, I looked for a huge afro but there were none about. Missed out on Chris and Thorsten but am back to feeling as rough as a bear's arse again today so that's probably just as well.
I was all over the place mate :)

I was the annoying git who kept getting tuts all night as I was taking so many photos (sorry if I blocked anybodies line of sight for a few seconds). Luckily I didn't notice and my girlfriend would have nutted anybody who fancied some ;)

harmonicaman wrote:Well I disagree.

The first part of the set, the MFD set was note perfect because it wasn't live, with the exception of vocals and some limited guitar work, IC and TQ's percussion bore no resemblance to the sound coming out of the speakers. And TQ's acoustic guitar "work" of Lake Of Pnnchartrain - well, when his gtr strap comes off his shoulders and he readjusts it - removing both hands from string and fret board yet the guitar in the track itself keeps on playing - well its more than a fair bet that its not live.

The second half the the set, after the singer left, was different. The whole sound from the PA gained more depth - as instruments were actually turned on and played, especially noticeable in the drums and percussions.

90 minutes of last night were very very good.
the first hour was a sham, my wife went to the show with me last night - and the first hour for her was like spotting a microphone in a movie - the music came secondary to spotting the obvious m.ime.

EF may want more women to attend shows, well theres one who probably wont be attending any more.

The band and most of the poeple have to accept MFD is a failure and move on - you may like it and good for you, but last night The Astoria was half empty, I've seen it full every christmas at the Hawkwind Christmas bash and I don't like watching TD in a half empty club.

And a question for those who walked around clutching your carrier bags full of merchandise, wearing your TD t shirts that you wear at every gig, because I see you there and read your posts here and in another place- well, last night several of you were proudly proclaiming that you have bought "my stuff and the stuff for ebay" - so do you think ripping off TD fans is a good way to cover your expenses getting to the shows ?. Buying 5 - 10 copies of the single - and the signed posters and stuff -
bought just to flog on ebay when the remainders would be sold on this site for the same as show price - disgraceful

As you can gather I'm not a happy fan this morning - bujt at least I don't try and rip any others off
Well, this kind of post does wind me up. You may be entitled to your opinion, but I hope that you have decided not to bother to attend a TD concert again.. and that in MY opinion!

Whether MFD was totally 'live' or not, IN MY OPINION I don't care. It was an excellent performance whatever. If one thinks logically, how many individuals would be needed to created a totally live performance of Tangerine Dream... go figure!

MFD is far from a failure - proof, SO many of us enjoyed the concert, and my 16 yr old has his OWN copy of MFD, and kids that age are hard to please...

I've never liked Hawkwind, but if they fill The Astoria I would not wish to be there. I was extremely comfortable at the front thank you. Just the right amount of people.

I don't think a TD concert is suitable for ANY female (with the greatest respect to any female fans), however, it was great to see so many supporting their partners by attending.

Ebay is there for people to sell and buy stuff. Most people are just glad that they can get hold of items which pre-ebay, they would have to wait years to appear in a specialist auction. Fair play to the people who put the energy into making it available.

Finally, if you are not happy, then maybe you should not attend the next show...

TD have not performed a live concert in probably 25 years, its been covered a million times here and on other forums. I now see the point of not going on and on about it because its such an accepted thing among the die hard fans.I'm still surprised to read reviews of TD gigs that seem shocked by it ..?

The fact is, the die hard fans are happy to sit in a room with TD and wav files and theres nothing anybody can say or do to change that view. The fact the Astroria was half full is a greater example of fans opinion about mim*ng, rather than MFD being a failure.

I don't agree that the Astoria was only half full, whilst I agree the gig was not full to capacity, the balcony area seemed quite packed and the main area had a healthy sized crowd with it only thinning out towards the sides/back. IMO, that was my recollection of the SBE 2005 with that gig being packed down the front but at the raised area at the back near the merchandise stall, it was comparatively uncrowded. TBH I would much rather it be that way rather than being packed in like sardines.

Make that 26-27 years and you'd be spot on ;) As Mick said to me down the pub afterwards, it's TD 'As live as they get'. I'll be commenting on the whole gig later in a longer review of the entire day. Coming to a blog near you soon (btw I'll be taking my rose-tinted glasses off to write it :D).

The only thing that the Astoria gig proves is that a few fans don't like the newer stuff, and of them a large proportion don't like vocals (having said that they probably don't like anything about TD these days, together with the 21st century....but that's another story...just kidding lads ;)) and it pays to advertise more. There's no way that the hall was 'half-full' that's complete non-sense, however it wasn't sold out that's for sure.

LMAO classic!

I don't make a habit of introducing myself pretentiously by my forum name it's just that as a relative newcomer not many of you know me as "Steve".

But now that you do.....
