proper running speed for Das Mädchen auf der Treppe 12"

The outer sleeve says 45rpm, but the lable on the vinyl says 33rpm. If you go by the song Calymba Caly (a variation of 'Speed'), it'd be 45RPM. However, when listening to them at 33rpm, the songs just seem to sound correct. And I don't have a 7" of 'Das Mädchen auf der Treppe' to compare. Of course, that could have the same problem (two different speeds listed).

Oddly enough, it's not addressed here at all:

Hi,
the disk is running at 45rpm. On the right side of the label is printed "33 RPM" . But on the left is printed (ST)(45), what means: stereo at 45 rpm. I own this record, so I'm sure that it is running at 45.

But how do we know that 45 rpm isn't the mistake and 33 rpm the correct speed?

Just measure the running time of the tracks. At 45 rpm the times are correct.
Das Mädchen auf der Treppe 3:50
Flock 2:28
Katja 3:01
Speed 2:37

Cool, thanks. Interesting though that the songs sound right at either speed.

I had this same confusion back when I first found that record. I wonder if the record label had been printed using a template for LPs and no one spotted the discrepancy. Apparently the creators of the bootleg "70/90" were also confused: http://www.voices-in-the-net.de/70_90.htm (see the track listing for "Flock")
