I've given up with the "do you know Kraftwerk?" line because it gives entirely the wrong impression; I think

Now I say "They're the Rolling Stones of electronic music." That way it's obviously not about the music but the stature.

Kraftwerk, despite me owning all their albums many times over, are one of the most over rated, most boring, needlessly written about, most cliched, most mechanically poseur riiden fak.e band of all time....imho...feel free to write endless f.b. Posts...

Used to bug me when folk said oh Tangerine Dream..a bit like Jean Michel Jarre.
I used to go off on a spiel about how they were sooooo different a sooooo much better than JMJ..it is nice when some folk say awwwww they were great back in the day.

One thing does happen though and its happened to me twice is folk saying good for listening to with a doob..or a tab.

Yeah there does seem to be that association, seems a bit shallow to me but it's not something I've ever tried so can't judge - bucket list maybe!

But JMJ? That's like comparing the Stones with the Beatles on the strength of their instruments - lame-arse nonsense. And that's a true judgement

Stones, whilst excellent, are just a wee bit too rough around the edges for comparison with the mighty TD

Neither The Rolling Stones or The Beatles of electronic music. A much more suitable comparison both when it comes to stature and the actual music (psychedelia, progression, exploration, refinement, perfection and excellence) is the Pink Floyd of electronic music.
