The Seven Letters From Tibet

Post by cantosis »

WOW!!!!!!!!!

I have been listening to this album on my IPod for the last two days and this is easily one of the best TD albums of the last 20 years.

this came out just after I started to drift away from TD, if I heard this at that time I dont think I would have ever drifted.

definitely one worth getting. I do think with TD you get quantity rather then quality with regards to albums coming out but this is one of the gems.

You'll like 'Great Wall Of China' as well, I'd guess

Both SLFT and GWOC have been stuck in my car CD player for the past days...

That album is very good as well.

yeh the great thing is I stopped listening to TD in 2000 and now just getting back into it and there is definitely some good stuff I missed out on(not so good stuff as well) but that is only to be expected when so much stuff is getting released.

In my opinion, Great Wall of China absolutely SUCKS compared to 7 Letters. The two are not even remotely comparable in terms of quality. GWOC is one of TD's worst recordings.

and yet I would say the complete opposite.

I agree, it's not at all bad. Each to their own though

Totally agree Colin, it's great chill-out music. Sitting on a deck-chair in the sun, with a beer, you can't beat it.

Seven letters is one of my favourites. I always thought it would be good to hear the whole thing played live as it great to listen to it in the dark. In fact Im definitely going to play it tomorrow as I havn't played it for a couple of years

Yep. That's usually the way I listen to Ziet as well. Give it a go.

There's not going to any sitting in a deck-chair today though.

Yeah, I brought these two around the same time and liked them both. I think GWOC is underated, but has some realy good solid tracks. Seven Letters from Tibet is easily one of the best TD realeases of the past eight years.

I just put on the Seven Letters the day before yesterday. Although I never appreciated this album that much before, this time I really loved it. I turned down the volume, lower than I usually do with TD discs, and relaxed a bit while listening. And suddenly I discovered the beauty of this music. :D Especially the first four tracks are just magnificent!

Can it be that a different volume level can alter your view on music? :?: It was a surprising discovery for me, so it seems the Seven Letters work better for me as more silent background music or ambient music (in the Brian Eno definition). I will repeat this experiment in the next few days, then I'll see ...
