Sfearical Sequence wrote:The three-speaker set-up was invented by Brian Eno in the early 1980s. What you do is connect the center speaker to the two positive terminals of your amp. It really does work and is quite effective. I used it for years. It adds a spatial dimension to the sound by delivering everything that is on either side of the stereo image, but not sounds common to both (thus a small speaker works fine, since no bass information is carried). Here is a link to the explanation with a diagram:
http://music.hyperreal.org/artists/bria ... d-txt.html
After an accident with playing the Rubycon LP too loud, I damaged one of my speakers.
I have a Technics amp with four speaker outputs, and decided to carry on with all those speakers anyway, and play at a low volume and not crank up the bass too much
I must say I like Eno's set-up. I have thrown out the damaged speaker, and this solution is as good as using the four speakers system, before the accident.

It certainly deserved to win that award. Surprised Ash Ra Tempel's debut (1971) album isn't on that list, it's brilliant.

Depends when in 1971 the album was released and/or when the poll was run. I've no idea what the sales were like for ART albums though
